St Germain

Cacaote opened a new restaurant located in Grand Indonesia East Mall, St Germain. The place was somehow reminded me of TWG Tea Salon & Boutique as the ambience was quite similar, it was a really nice place though. 

I ordered Steak and Frites (295k) for main course

Such a dissapointment for me. I'm such a big fan of steak and I've tried quite many steaks from different restaurants, and frankly speaking this was one of the worst steak I've ever eaten. The beef was not tender and so hard to be cut. The mushroom sauce was nothing like mushroom sauce as the texture and flavor was more likely to be weird bbq sauce. Thank goodness I was saved by chilli sauce.

For dessert me and my friends shared 3 different pastries by Cacaote 

Matcha Cake (50k), Cacaote Cake (50k) and Caramel Puff (28k) 

The Matcha Cake was fine but the matcha flavor was too overpowering and it turned out to be a little bit bitter.

The Cacaote Cake was delicious and perfect for chocolate lover like me. But I could never finish this all by myself since this was too much. 

The Caramel Puff was probably the best compared to the other two. Its light and perfect in flavor as in its sweet but not too sweet.

Lastly, I ordered lychee tea (35k) for the drink. It tasted great as it supposed to be.

Rosso - Shangri la

It's been a while now since my last post. And in this post I would like to talk about this fine dining restaurant located at Shangri la Hotel Jakarta. 

I went there for my late new year's dinner with my mum and my sister. The place wasn't too packed with people that time. Infact there were only 3 tables occupied. 

Rosso was a very nice and romantic restaurant with red colour dominating the room. It's such a perfect place to dine with your loved one. 

I ordered mushroom soup for the appetizer and trilogy tenderloin for the main. 

Mushroom soup (110k) :

This dish was just a dissapoinment for me. The mushroom itself was just tasted blurry and weird. I couldn't even take the third spoon of it to my mouth. 

Trilogy tenderloin (480k) :

This was amazing. The beef was so tender and cooked perfectly. On top of them there were 3 different topping ; foie gras, cheese and spinach. My favourite was the one with cheese. It was just melted on my mouth. But the rest weren't bad at all as well. 

My sister ordered this angel hair pasta.

It was good actually. But the tomato paste was too over powering the dish and tasted so strong. Me myself not a big fan of all kind of tomato. So this dish just wasn't for me. 

My mum ordered the duo pork. They served 2 different pork on the plate. The one on the left was the crispy pork meat and the other one was pork ribs.  

For drinks I ordered watermelon juice (60k). It was good and fresh. Just loved it

Cacaote

I passed through senopati road and I this newly opened restaurant really catched my eyes. The building's different from any  other restaurant and really bright at night. I finally got time to visit this restaurant. It was much smaller than I expected but the decorations and the ambience was outstanding. It was really sweet and elegant. 

Main Courses 

Seared  Angus Beef Tenderloin (280k). It was so delicious. Perfect medium cooked beef and seasoned perfectly. The layered potatoes on side was also tasted so good. 

Tasmanian Salmon Confit (145k). The salmon was roasted with perfection and have a wonderful taste as well. The potatoes underneath were also very nice. 

 

For the dessert I ordered Cacaote cake (50k). This is a dark chocolate cake with crunchy cookies at the bottom. I'm a big fan of dark chocolate, so it's perfect I can say. 

I tried Starwberry Honey juice (40k) for the drink. It was a mix of strawberry, yogurt and honey. It was too sweet for me even when I ordered it less sugar. But overall this drink was nice. 

Overall I gave Cacaote 8/10. Good food, comfortable environment and very nice service despite the fact that the staffs kept asking if they can take my plate away even when the potatoes were still lying there wait to be eatten.

Potato Head Garage

This newly born restaurant really brought up my curiosity. So I went to this place once and once is never enough. The ambience was very elegant and cozy. The interiors were super fine and the chandeliers hanging make this restaurant even more beautiful and classy. The music was getting louder and pumping as it's getting late. Perfect place to hangout for young generations. 

Two main courses I tried. 

Roasted salmon (135k). It was very delicious. The salmon was roasted perfectly and the chessy cream sauce was very delicous as well. 

Australian black angus stip-loin. I forgot the exact price for this one. It's around 250ish or 300ish. This dish was a big disappointment for me. I ordered it medium and it served well done, made this beef so dry and hard to chew. It has no taste as well. 

For the dessert I tried Valhrona Chocolate (60k). The chocolate was so strong, which is for me excellent. But not a big fan of the ice cream.

Kinako Parfait (60k). Gorgeous presentation. It was a soft cake topped with ogura. I love the ogura and the flavor of the cake. For me this dish was just gorgeous as it looks.

I gave Potato Head Garage 7/10. Because I love the ambience and the food was not so bad after all.

Gaia, Altitude

Altitude is probably the most 'happening' restaurant now in Jakarta.altitude has 3 different restaurants inside. There's Gaia the french restaurant and then Salt&Grill the australian one and En Maru the japanese restaurant. It's located on 46th floor The Plaza building, so you can enjoy the Jakarta's scenery while you dine. All three restaurants were so nice but I like Gaia the most. 

I tried Gaia's beef tenderloin (450k). It was amazing. The beef really melted on my mouth and seasoned perfectly. Plus the melted cheese on top of it was the perfect combination for the beef, made Gaia's tenderloin different from others elsewhere. 

I ordered tiramisu (90k) for the dessert. The presentation was not so neat after all. However, the texture was excellent and it tasted very nice too. I really now understand the meaning of 'don't judge a book but its cover'. 

Then there was pannacotta (90k). I'm not a big fan of pannacotta, but this one I will admit, it was tasty. 

Overall I gave Gaia 9/10. Perfect ambience, great service and very good foods as well.

Union

Union is always be one of the most favorite restaurant for me. The ambience was excellent despite from its crowdedness and a very long queue before you can get a table . In addition of the excellent ambience, a long pastry display in front is so tempting. It never fails to ruin my whole week diet.

I've been to Union for quite many times for the pas few months and I'm going to give a hint of courses that I've tried. First is the beef... I forgot what's the exact name of it... By the way, the beef itself was seasoned nicely and it cooked just the way I wanted it to be. The fried fries was seasoned well but it was too oily.

Duck confit a l'orange (150k) . The duck was perfectly fried. It has crunchy texture on the outside but so soft on the inside. The mushrooms underneath was also very good. 

Crispy skin salmon (135k).The salmon was perfectly cooked. The skin really represent the name given to the dish. It was so crispy and full of flavor. 

Union burger (90k). The burger was just ok. The bacon inside the burger was the winner of this dish. It was so crunchy and tasted amazing.

Whole roast baby chicken (120k). Union really takes chicken to the whole new level. The baby chicken was roasted and seasoned perfectly. The potato wedges on side were also giving big contribution in order to make this dish perfect. Love it.

For the dessert I ordered crunchy chocolate cake (50k). It tasted incredibly good. The chocolate and the hazelnut crunch makes a perfect combination. 

Red velvet cake (50k). This is definitely the best red velvet cake in town. The cream cheese was in a right amount and the peanuts all over it was just addictive.

 

Carrot cake (50k). I'm not a big fan of carrot cake but I was so tempting by the way it looks. And it turns out to be so so.

I gave Union 7/10 since it's hard to find restaurant in Jakarta that can provide very good food with a very comfortable ambience.

Otel Lobby

I went to this restaurant last sat night. It's actually not the first time for me since I've been to this restaurant for several times. The place itself was very nice but it was so dark at night. They can give more candles or lights, especially in the bathroom.

I ordered pizza with bbq beef on top (85k) for sharing. I forgot the exact name of this dish but it tasted nice. The pizza was thin and crunchy. The beef was seasoned perfectly. 

And then I ordered beef wellington (175k) for the main course. I like the tenderloin beef inside the pastry but I'm not a big fan of the mushroom things on top of it. The pastry itself was so so. One thing I like the most from this dish is the mashed potato. It was perfectly seasoned and the texture was so softt. 

And the last one I ordered chocolate melted (45k) for dessert. What can possibly goes wrong with melted chocolate? Nothing. Except they served it with ice on the side and it turns out to be it was just a tasteless water ice.

Overall I gave Otel Lobby 7/10. I definitely will come back to this place because this place was not too noisy and hectic. Perfect place to relax and just hanging around, chatting with friends.
